Conservative Friends of Pakistan Celebrate Success at Conservative Party Conference 2025 in Manchester

Under the leadership of Lord Zameer Choudrey, the Conservative Friends of Pakistan (CFoP) were proud to host a vibrant stand and a packed reception at this year’s Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. Both proved to be a resounding success, drawing in senior Conservative leaders, members of parliament, councillors, grassroots activists, and friends from across the country.

From the very start, it was clear that the CFoP presence at conference was something special. Our stand quickly became a hub of activity, a place where people came not only to learn about our work but also to engage in meaningful conversations about the future of the Party, the contributions of the British Pakistani community, and the values that unite us all.

The highlight of our presence was undoubtedly the CFoP Reception, which was filled to beyond capacity. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy, as distinguished guests addressed the audience and offered their insights, encouragement, and support for our mission.

Inspiring Words from Our Speakers

The evening began with a warm welcome from Ahmereen Reza OBE, who set the tone for the event by reflecting on the enduring values shared by the Conservative Party and the British Pakistani community.

Lord Zameer Choudrey CBE followed with his own words of welcome, underlining the vital role that diaspora communities continue to play in strengthening both the Conservative movement and British society more broadly.

We were honoured to be joined by Kevin Hollinrake MP, Chairman of the Conservative Party, who praised the work of CFoP in building bridges and reaffirmed the Party’s commitment to inclusivity. His words resonated deeply, particularly his recognition of the British Pakistani community’s role in shaping the country’s future.

Lord Howard Leigh of Hurley shared reflections on the historic ties between the Party and diaspora communities, encouraging more members of the community to step forward into active political life.

The theme of grassroots engagement was also echoed by The Lord Mark McInnes of Kilwinning CBE, CEO of the Conservative Party, who stressed the importance of organisations like CFoP in energising members and strengthening the Party at every level.

One of the evening’s most inspiring contributions came from Rt Hon Saqib Bhatti MP, Shadow Minister for Education, who spoke powerfully about his own journey and the role of education in unlocking opportunity for future generations.

We were equally honoured to hear from Rt Hon Sir James Cleverly MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, who underlined the importance of representation and unity, reminding us that our shared values are what make us strong.

Wendy Morton MP, Shadow Minister for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, highlighted the UK’s enduring relationship with Pakistan and the importance of strengthening international ties.

Richard Fuller MP, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, shared his insights into economic growth, enterprise, and the vital role of British Pakistani businesses in driving prosperity.

Andrew Stephenson, former Party Chairman and MP for Pendle, spoke from his own experience representing a constituency with strong Pakistani community ties, offering lessons in effective engagement.

Stewart Harper, President of the National Convention, encouraged grassroots activists to play a stronger role in shaping the Party’s direction and ensuring every community has a voice in its future.

Closing remarks came from CFoP Directors Sam Akhtar and Shakar Elahi, who thanked all attendees for their support, celebrated the achievements of the evening, and set out ambitious plans for the year ahead.

A Celebration of Community and Conservative Values

What made this event so special was not only the calibre of our speakers but also the sense of unity and purpose in the room. From long-serving Party members to newcomers eager to engage, the reception embodied the very best of our values: inclusivity, opportunity, and a commitment to public service.

The conversations throughout the evening were a testament to the strength of the British Pakistani community within the Conservative Party and the vital role it continues to play in shaping Britain’s future.

Looking Ahead

The success of our stand and reception in Manchester has set the stage for an even more impactful year ahead. Conservative Friends of Pakistan will continue to serve as a platform for engagement, representation, and celebration of the British Pakistani community’s contribution to the Conservative movement and to the UK as a whole.

We would like to thank all our speakers, guests, and supporters for making this such a memorable occasion. Together, we are building a stronger Conservative Party — one that reflects the rich diversity and shared values of modern Britain
